Dr. Stavros Karamperidis

Associate Professor in Maritime Economics and Head of Maritime Transport Research Group, University of Plymouth

Dr. Stavros Karamperidis is an Associate Professor in Maritime Economics and Head of Maritime Transport Research Group at the University of Plymouth.

For 7 years he was the program lead of three MSc programs: MSc International Shipping, MSc International Logistics and Supply Chain Management and MSc International Procurement and Supply Chain Management. Stavros has more than 20 years of experience working both in industry and academia.

He is regularly invited to deliver insights at various universities, companies, key commercial conferences around the globe and leading broadcasters (e.g. BBC, Aljazeera), by commenting on issues related to shipping and logistics with emphasis on decarbonisation, digitalisation, geopolitics and security (physical and cyber).

Stavros manages projects of approximate value £2.6 million and has more than 65 peer reviewed publications. One of his recent projects examined the establishment and operation of a green shipping corridor between the UK and ASEAN region through Singapore.

Finally, he is a council member of the SMI Ports and Terminals Group, a board member of the Port of Plymouth, Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
