Dr. Dimitrios Giakoumis
CEO and Co-Founder, OZZIE Robotics
Dr. Dimitrios Giakoumis is the CEO and Co-Founder of OZZIE Robotics, as well as Principal Researcher (Grade B’) in Cognitive Service Robotics, at the Information Technologies Institute of CERTH. His main research interests include human-robot interaction, robot vision, service robot perception and cognition, affective computing, human motion, activity and behaviour analysis and modelling, safe and social-aware robot navigation, biosignals processing and sensor management, multimodal interfaces, machine learning and pattern recognition. His involvement in these areas has led to co-authoring of more than 120 papers in refereed journals, international conferences and book chapters. Since 2007, he has been involved in more than 25 research and development projects, both with OZZIE Robotics and CERTH. These include the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects RAMCIP, BADGER, HR-Recycler, Ageing@work, BACCHUS, ODIN και ARISE, as well as projects TERRAPIN and ROBO-KNOT on service robotics. He has been the deputy Coordinator and Quality Manager of the Horizon2020 RAMCIP project, the deputy Scientific and Technical Manager of the H2020 HR-RECYCLER and BACCHUS projects, the Quality Assurance Manager of the H2020 BADGER project, the Scientific and Technical Manager of the H2020 Ageing@Work project, as well as the Coordinator of the Horizon Europe Robetarme, MANiBOT and PLIADES research projects, on AI, Data and Robotics.
