Dr. Dimitris Mardas

Professor of Economics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He was born in Istanbul on 15 of March 1955. He was appointed as Alternate Minister of Finance from 27 January to August 2015. From October 2015 to November 2016 he was also appointed as a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for international economic relations. He was a member of the Greek Parliament from October 2015 to July 2019.
From April 2000 to February 2002 he was the Secretary General of Commerce at the Ministry of Development and from 2003 to 2004 he was the Managing Director of the Hellenic Export Promotion Organization. He was National Detached Expert, at the Directorate-General for the Internal Market, of the Commission of the EC, from 1992 to 1994. He was a merchant, wholesale of toys, from 1982 to 1991.
Doctorat Thesis at the University Paris II – Panthéon (1990). Subject: “The theory of Intra-industry Trade : The case of the European Economic Community”. His academic research, presented in many forums and published in English and French scientific reviews/journals.
